Stage 2: Dordrecht > Rotterdam

Tuesday August 13, 2024

67 kilometer

Start Dordrecht: 09:50 uur

Finish Rotterdam: 11:36 uur (fastest schedule)

A busy day awaits the riders on day two of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift 2024. Before the individual time trial, there is a short but treacherous stage between Dordrecht and Rotterdam in the morning.

Following in the footsteps of Rotterdam and The Hague, the start and finish locations of the first stage, it is now Dordrecht’s turn to be in Tours spheres. The circus of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will descend on the heart of the city and the first wearers of the yellow, green, polka dot and white jersey will proudly stand on the front row.

Short and fast stage
The morning stage is relatively short, but very treacherous for that very reason. The pace will be fast from the start, and the GC contenders, with an eye on the individual time trial in Rotterdam in the afternoon, cannot let their guard down for a second. Here they cannot win the Tour, but they can already lose it.

Through city centre and polder
After the start on the Energieplein, the peloton first sets off towards the historic city centre and the harbours, a beautiful part of Dordrecht. The peloton leaves the city via the Merwedebrug and enters Papendrecht for a lap through the polders of the Alblasserwaard. As the wind always has free rein here, it can lead to breaks in the peloton. If the riders happen to look up, they will see the world-famous windmills of Kinderdijk.

Along the edge of Rotterdam
Via Alblasserdam, Ridderkerk and Barendrecht, the route leads to the southern edge of Rotterdam. After the turning point near Rhoon, the Tour will finally ride into the finish city for the final 15 kilometers of the stage.

Final at the centre
Television viewers will see numerous iconic locations in the finale. After passing by De Kuip, the football club Feyenoord’s stadium, the riders will head through Rotterdam-Zuid towards Koninginnebrug and Willemsbrug in the city centre. At over a kilometer from the line, they turn onto the Maas Boulevard and all that awaits them is a long, straight line to the finish.

Finish at the Erasmus Bridge
The finish line is drawn on the Boompjes at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge, a majestic venue for a perhaps majestic sprint. Or is the city course cut out for a successful surprise attack?
